Amal Launches Hebrew Language Seminar for Educators in the Non-Jewish Sector

Amal Educational Network has introduced a groundbreaking seminar for teachers in nearly 20 schools serving Israel’s non-Jewish sector. This initiative emphasizes the critical importance of Hebrew language proficiency as a cornerstone for equality and societal integration.

The seminar which was held yesterday, addressed the challenges posed by insufficient mastery of Hebrew among Arab students, a gap that significantly impacts employment opportunities and higher education access. Studies show a dramatic decline in Arabic-speaking students pursuing advanced Hebrew studies over the past two decades, contributing to reduced mobility in Israel’s workforce and society. During the seminar, educational staff engaged in workshops designed to enhance teaching strategies and empower students to excel in Hebrew, both academically and conversationally. Participants reflected on how language serves as both a practical skill and a cultural bridge, fostering connections across communities while enabling greater self-confidence and a stronger sense of equality.

This initiative is part of Amal’s broader strategy to become Israel’s first State-Democratic educational network. This transformation prioritizes civic education and aims to equip all students—Jewish and Arab alike—with the knowledge, skills, and values needed to thrive. Hebrew proficiency is a central pillar of this vision, seen as essential for fostering a confident identity, advancing social mobility, and promoting equality.

Amal Educational Network remains committed to empowering its educators through initiatives that create meaningful opportunities and pave the way for a more inclusive and equitable Israel.
