Amal’s Groundbreaking PAI Program Completes Its First Year
In a year marked by uncertainty, grief, and national crisis, when security and survival often took precedence over everything else, we at the Amal Educational Network held tightly to one enduring belief: education cannot wait. Even in times of war—perhaps especially in times of war—our responsibility as educators is to continue shaping minds, strengthening communities, and preparing the next generation to meet an unpredictable future with knowledge, resilience, and purpose. It was from this conviction that we launched PAI – Pedagogy with Artificial Intelligence, Amal’s flagship program designed to bring the power of AI into classrooms while keeping human intelligence, compassion, and creativity at the center of learning. PAI was not just a technological initiative. It was a bold educational response to the challenges of our time—combining innovation with values, and technology with pedagogy.
Throughout the 2024–2025 school year, we set out to answer a critical question: how can we integrate AI tools into teaching, learning, and assessment while ensuring they strengthen—not replace—the role of the teacher and the needs of each student? The program was built upon Amal’s core educational principles: independent learning, collaboration, ethical engagement, practical application, and personalized learning paths.
After months of intensive development and collaboration, we launched the program in November 2024. Over the course of the year, more than 900 teachers from a wide range of disciplines participated in workshops, explored a custom-built digital platform, engaged in self-guided learning, experimented with smart lesson planning, and provided and received real-time feedback. A vibrant professional learning community emerged, connecting educators across the network with a shared mission to lead change.
This journey was not easy. Teachers and school leaders worked under the shadow of war, managing classrooms while grappling with loss, uncertainty, and personal strain. And yet, they showed extraordinary commitment and courage. Together—with the support of school principals, pedagogical coordinators, digital learning leads, innovation teams, and our central education staff—we succeeded in shifting how learning is perceived and delivered. We saw a transformation: from traditional classroom structures to more flexible, student-centered learning environments; from static lesson plans to dynamic, data-informed teaching; from isolated teaching to shared innovation. Most importantly, we saw educators rise as leaders—designing AI-enhanced learning experiences that remained deeply human at heart.
The program culminated in a celebratory event on May 25, 2025, where finalists presented original projects that demonstrated how AI can be used to enhance student learning and engagement. It was a moving reminder that even in the hardest of years, innovation and hope can flourish inside our schools. And this is only the beginning. In the upcoming year, we will launch the next phase of the program—PAI²—with new tools, expanded content, and a broader reach. We will deepen our focus on nurturing responsible, self-directed learners, and continue to equip our educators with the tools and confidence to lead in a rapidly changing world. Each participating school will soon receive a detailed progress report, summarizing the accomplishments of their teaching teams and highlighting the impact of this extraordinary first year.
At Amal, we believe that education must never be postponed. It is the foundation of national resilience, the heartbeat of democracy, and the clearest path to a better future. As Israel continues to face unprecedented challenges, we remain steadfast in our mission: to lead with courage, to teach with vision, and to ensure that the intelligence guiding artificial intelligence is always—first and foremost—human.
