Amal Educational Network Hosts Special Event for Retired Staff

In a heartfelt and meaningful event, the Amal Educational Network recently gathered to honor the dedicated staff who have retired over the past five years. The gathering, held at the spacious Cinema City complex near Tel Aviv, was a celebration of the immense contributions made by those who spent their careers shaping the future of Amal’s students.

The event began with a warm meet and greet over a buffet lunch, where former staff members reunited with colleagues, sharing memories and experiences. Despite some absences due to the ongoing challenges of the war, which made travel uncertain, those who attended were warmly welcomed and recognized for their role in Amal’s success.

Karen Tal, Director General of Amal, expressed her deep gratitude to the retired staff, highlighting their dedication and commitment to their students—many of whom come from challenging backgrounds.

“You have been role models and a source of strength for our students,” Karen said, acknowledging the significant impact these educators have had on shaping the lives of generations of young people.

Karen also made a heartfelt call to the retirees, encouraging them to consider returning to Amal in a volunteer, tutoring, or part-time capacity.

“Our students need your knowledge, experience, and goodwill now more than ever as they navigate the complexities of the current situation,” she urged. Karen was pleased to learn that many former Amal teachers are already involved in various social initiatives, continuing to contribute to society in meaningful ways.

The keynote address was delivered by Yael Odem, Channel 12’s education correspondent, who reflected on the events of October 7th and the individuals she has encountered in her coverage of the past year. Yael spoke movingly about the resilience of Israeli society and its people, emphasizing that despite the challenges, Israel’s civil society remains strong and full of good intentions. “We will overcome these obstacles because of the kindness and determination of our communities,” she concluded.

The event concluded with the entire executive board of Amal taking the stage to personally thank the retirees and present them with gifts, a gesture of respect and appreciation for their lifelong dedication. This gathering was a poignant reminder that Amal’s strength and vision for the future are deeply rooted in a strong and supportive community—one that includes not only current staff but also those who have retired and laid the foundation for the network’s continued success.
