Amal Educational Network Marks Hanukkah
Today, the HQ staff of the Amal Educational Network gathered to mark Hanukkah lighting the first candle of the Menorah. The event featured remarks from Karen Tal, the Director General of the organization, who reflected on the significance of the Hanukkah Menorah as a powerful symbol.
In her speech, Tal emphasized the role of the Menorah in representing leadership and service. She noted how the Menorah’s central candle, the shamash, stands higher than the others, symbolizing the importance of guiding and illuminating the path for the community. “Just as the shamash lights the other candles,” Tal remarked, “true leadership involves uplifting others and serving the greater good.” She then urged the government to fulfill their role in serving the public and listen to their hopes and desires. Addressing the ongoing war and the 100 hostages who are still held in the tunnels of Gaza, Karen hoped for the safe and immediate return of all of them.
Additionally, Karen used the occasion to welcome several employees who recently joined the organization, as well as to honor those who are retiring. She expressed heartfelt appreciation for their contributions, highlighting the impact they have made during their time at Amal.
The gathering fostered a sense of unity among staff members as they reflected on the values of dedication and commitment that underpin the mission of the Amal Educational Network. This celebration not only marked the festival of lights but also reinforced the organization’s dedication to education, empowerment, and community service. Karen closed the get together by wishing Merry Christmas to those who celebrate the happy holiday among the Amal community and Amal partner schools abroad, hoping for better days to come.
