Amal Network Principals Convene to Launch Renewed Vision Amid Ongoing War

Yesterday, Amal Network held its annual Principals’ Conference to kick off the 5785 school year at the Israel Council for a Beautiful Israel campus in Tel Aviv. Despite the challenges of an ongoing war, principals traveled from 24 communities, including the north, where daily airstrikes and emergency conditions persist. This commitment highlights Amal’s unwavering resolve to provide education continuity and a stable routine for students, even under crisis conditions.

The conference opened with an in-depth exploration of Amal’s new strategy, focused on enhancing academic performance, embedding democratic values, and redefining the network as Israel’s first State Democratic educational network. Principals received a comprehensive guide outlining this transformative vision—engaging educators, students, and parents alike to uphold values critical to Israel’s identity as both Jewish and democratic, and fostering a global outlook.

Divided into working groups, principals discussed how best to adapt these new principles within their unique school communities. The conference underscored Amal’s holistic approach, led by CEO Karen Tal, calling on principals to act as community leaders. Schools are encouraged to integrate with their local communities and initiate events and projects that reinforce social and ethical values.

Additionally, the conference emphasized continued innovation in technology and digital literacy, essential tools for fostering democratic engagement. “Israel’s strength lies in technological prowess, but a thriving democracy demands vigilance, digital literacy, and an environment of critical thinking,” stated Tal.

The conference closed with a storytelling workshop led by expert Maya Kosover, equipping Amal principals with skills to communicate their educational vision in compelling ways. This training empowers principals to advance the values-driven goals of Amal Network, contributing to a stronger, more united Israeli society.
