Amal to Implement a Comprehensive Education Strategy Across the North

Amal Educational Network has been selected as the official educational partner for Kisra-Smia as part of the Israeli government’s “Tnufa for the North” initiative, a strategic program aimed at strengthening communities along the northern frontline. In this role, Amal is responsible for leading, developing, and implementing a comprehensive, multi-year educational strategy across the entire local council—expanding its impact far beyond the high school it operates in the village.

Through th  is partnership, Amal is supporting the design and execution of a holistic educational framework that addresses key developmental areas: early childhood education, STEM (science, technology, engineering, and mathematics), informal education, and the professional empowerment of the municipal education department. The initiative reflects a systemic approach, positioning education as a central driver of long-term community resilience and growth.

Among the flagship activities already underway are a summer STEM science camp for elementary school students, a mobile STEM program for kindergartens, targeted professional development for educational staff, and the establishment of multi-sector roundtables. These collaborative forums—bringing together the local authority, Ministry of Education, and community stakeholders—focus on shared challenges such as creating safe and meaningful summer frameworks for youth.

Within this broader ecosystem of educational innovation, local initiatives continue to flourish. One such example is the inspiring program led by Druze women with disabilities who sew uniforms for IDF soldiers—an initiative that reflects both deep community engagement and a strong sense of civic contribution. Together, these efforts highlight Amal’s expanding role in Kisra-Smia: not only as a school network, but as a catalyst for inclusive, community-wide educational and social development
